Founded in PERSIA
The Baha’I faith was founded by Mirza Hoseyn ‘Ali Nuri, also known as Bahá'u'lláh (Glory of God), in Iran during the mid-19th century. The Baha’I faith is continuously increasing its popularity in the West due to its openness view to all religions which aligns with the religious relativism growing in that part of the world.
‘Abd ol-Baha, the eldest son of Baha’u’llah became the leader of the Baha’I community and was given authorization to interpret Baha'u'llah's teachings. ‘Abd ol-Baha actively and successfully administered the movement’s affairs and was able to spread the faith to Europe, North America and other continents. He later on appointed his eldest grandson, Shonghi Effendi Rabbani as his successor. Not long after the Baha’I faith underwent a rapid expansion in the beginning of the 1960s, and by late 20th century, the Baha’I faith embodied more than 150 national assemblies (national governing bodies) and about 20,000 local spiritual assemblies worldwide.
